Funeral services for Annie Laura Bounds Wheeler will be held at 11 A.M. , on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Newton County Funeral Home – South, in Newton, with Bro. Steve Robinson, Bro. Larry Laird, and Bro. Jerry Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 P.M. - 8 P.M. on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the funeral home and one hour before the funeral on Monday.

Mrs. Wheeler, 92, of Decatur, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Newton County, and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She loved her flowers, and enjoyed piecing quilts. Favorite past times were playing cards, dominos, doing word puzzles, and watching The Atlanta Braves. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors Include: one daughter: Charlotte Mayes, and husband William of Decatur; one son: Gene Buggs, and wife Rachel of Saraland, AL; six grandchildren: Angela Spence and husband, Mike of Decatur; Kevin Mayes and wife, Vicki of Decatur; Gary Mayes and wife, Lisa of Decatur; Justin Mayes and wife, Betty Ann of Decatur; Pam Long of Mobile, AL and Tobbie Buggs and wife Peggy of Saraland, AL; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister-in-law: Dot Bounds of Marietta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews;

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Howard Jordan Buggs and James Wheeler; her parents: Willie L. and Addie Cooper Bounds; and ten siblings.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Horton, Mackie Bounds, Rayphord Bounds, Stan Bounds, Kent Mayes, and Prentiss Bounds.
