Roscoe was the son of Samuel B and Cynthia Stockton (Amos) Knox. Roscoe married Mathilda Jane Buoy in Lane County, Oregon in 1861. They started their family there in Lane County at Pleasant Hill. He moved his family to Post Oregon about 1884. Together they would have fourteen children, most living to adulthood.
The children were Stella, Jane, Laura, Samuel, Edward, Horace, Daniel, John, George, Maggie, Lillian, Caroline, Ina, and Warren. The cemetery sets on the old Knox Homestead and is sometimes called Newsom Cemetery as the creek with that name runs nearby.
