ABBETT, James Roland, 74, a resident of Prattville, Alabama, died peacefully on December 14, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial with Tom Taylor officiating, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Abbett was an avid hunter, golfer, fisherman, and bowler. He served his country in the United States Air Force for nine years. Mr. Abbett was a member and past master of the Masonic Lodge 89 inPrattville. He was a member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors for many years. He was well known in the community as being Santa over the years at the Montgomery Zoo. Mr. Abbett was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Clessie; and one brother, William B. Abbett. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Abbett; three daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Perry Payne, Dianne and Chris Hughes, and Denise Abbett; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Robbie Abbett; five grandchildren, Michelle Yeargan, Lauren (Brandon) Johnson, Stephanie Abbett, Bobby Yeargan, and Rachel Abbett; one great-grandchild, Rebekah Johnson; two brothers, Alvin (Marsha) Abbett, and Nick (Grace) Abbett; and numerous other extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
