Laura Gasaway Byers, 66, of Manhattan passed way Thursday evening at the Columbus hospital in Great Falls. Carcinoma was the cause of her death.
Mrs. Byers was born June 12, 1874 in Davis County, Missouri. She came to Montana in 1889 where her family settled in the South Cottonwood district. She was married in 1898 to H. S. Gasaway in Bozeman. The latter passed away in 1919. She was remarried in 1922 to James Byers of Great Falls. Since 1899 Mrs. Byers resided in the Manhattan area and she has been a member of the Baptist church since she was eleven years of age.
Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Lucy Poff of Manhattan; a daughter, Mrs. E. W. Gibson of Great Falls; a stepdaughter; Mrs. Frank J. Trunk of Bozeman; a stepson, Miles Gasaway of Forsyth; a sister Mrs. Cora Todd of White Sulphur, and two brothers, Henry Poff of Whitehall and George Poff of Menard. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Earline and Jean Gibson of Great Falls and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body arrived here from Great Falls and was taken to Dokken Funeral home last night. Funeral Services will be conducted this afternoon at 2:30 in the Chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sunset Hills Cemetery.
