Joseph W. McMahon, 78, of Unionville, beloved husband of Rose Marie (Landolina) McMahon, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 12th. Born in Hartford, July 10th, 1932, son of the late Joseph A. and Agnita (Drude) McMahon, he resided in Unionville all of his life. Joseph was employed by the State of Connecticut in the Public Works Department from 1951-1992 and from 1992 until his retirement in 2004 was employed at Parsons Chevrolet in Farmington as a Parts Driver. Joe was a veteran member of the Tunxis Hose Co. #1 in Unionville for 30 years where he had served as Treasurer of the company for many years. He was a longtime devoted communicant at the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea in Unionville where he served as an usher at the 7:30 Sunday morning Mass for many years. The family would like to thank the staff at Apple Rehab in Avon for their support and compassion during his stay. Besides his wife of 49 years, Joseph is survived by his son, Steven McMahon of Unionville, his brother Thomas McMahon and his wife Patricia of Avon and their children Patricia and Joseph Amat of Glastonbury, Thomas and Cheryl McMahon of California, Sharon and Michael Radler of Avon, Mark and Carol McMahon of Ellington, Michelle McMahon and Chad Cole of Kentucky and several great nieces and great nephews. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday (May 16) at 10:00am in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville followed by burial in the family plot at St. Mary Cemetery, Avon.
