Ann nee: Loeffen Banicki, age 85, off Winona passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday afternoon, January 23, 2013, surrounded by her family.
She was born April 20, 1927, in Detroit Michigan, to Marianus and Minnie Loeffen.
On October 25, 1947, she married Norman J (Swede) Banicki at St Stanislaus Kostka Church. She was employed at Winona Knitting Mills for 27 years before retiring.
Ann's family was very important to her, and she loved having barbecues and Christmas at her home. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her friends. In her later years, she had one of the best looking yards in Winona. The weeds and fall leaves did not stand a chance against her. She was a big Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan. Ann never had a driver's license and really liked to ride her bike to the local stores. Two full baskets on the back of her bike was no problem – three wheeled bicycles were for old people but not her. Last January, she even rode her bike to Walmart when the temperature reached 50 degrees.
Ann is survived by her fours sons, John (Rita) Banicki, Richard (Lynn) Banicki, Robert (Debra) Banicki and Joseph (Michelle) Banicki, all of Winona; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Prochowitz, Agnes Hemmelgarn and Julie Hemmelman; many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, James N Banicki; one grandson; two brothers and one sister.
Interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home watkowski-mulyck.com
