Lester was the 4th of five children born to Fred and Hulda Seibel Janzen, Fairview, Major County Oklahoma.

The 1930 and 1940 census list Lester as living with his parents in Beaver County Oklahoma.
He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict.
Lester was a teacher and a farmer. He was killed in a farming accident at the age of 55.
