William Joseph "Joe Bill" Smith
Age 22, died due to automobile crash.

Son of:
Joseph Denton and Mary Susan (Cox) Smith. They are buried in New Salem Cemetery as well.

Husband of:
Irene (Hartzman) Smith. They were married only nine months when a driver of another car ran a red light at Bardstown Rd. and Hikes Ln. in Louisville, killing Joe Bill.

Irene's sister, Lil (Hartzman) Gunn, was also killed in the crash. Lil's husband, Lige, who was driving, and her baby boy survived along with Irene.
What a sad day for their family.

Joe Bill was brother to Annie Ruth (Smith) Kidd and Virginia Edna Smith. They are also buried in New Salem Cemetery.
