Oldest child of David Russell Thompson and Angeline Wynn Thompson. Family moved to Mercer County (now) West Virginia about 1855. Served in 24th VA Infantry from 1861 to 1865. Married Elizabeth Riddle in WV in 1868. They had three children: John Ford Thompson, Mariah Thompson, and Virginia "Virgie" Thompson. Virginia married Lonnie Porter and is also buried in the Ebenezer cemetery. After Elizabeth died Henry married Phine Young. They had no children. She died March 22, 1928. Phine is buried in the Fields Young cemetery near Mouth of Wilson, VA.
