David lived in New York until 1859 when he moved his family to Will County, Illinois. They lived there until early 1884 when he bought land in Saline County, Nebraska. He died only three months after signing the deed.

"Died in DeWitt, Tuesday, May 13, of congestion of the lungs, Mr. David A. Roscoe, aged 60 years."

Another daughter, Martha Almira Roscoe died at age 18 in Peotone, Will County, Illinois.
