He married Rebecca Guth or Good and fathered Ann Eliza (b. @1853), Charles Clements (b. 03/04/62), Keziah A. (b. 09/14/55 - married a Meinel), John Henry (b. 01/14/58), Sarah R. (08/24/59), Elias P. (b. 12/21/63), William F (b. 08/25/66, d. 08/30/66), T. Howard (b. 04/27/68), J. Albert (b. 08/28/70), and Jacob M. (b. 02/04/75). In 1860, he was a tailor and farmer living in Lower Windsor Township, York County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 9" tall with brown hair and blue eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg August 23, 1864, mustered into federal service there September 2 as a private with Co. D, 200th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 30, 1865.

In 1890, he lived in Wrightsville, York County, but died in York Borough at age 83-11-29 from a "cerebral hemorrhage." His death certificate spells his first name "Parris" as does the 1870 census.
