The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Florence. The Rev. Gary Formby will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Elkins Funeral Home.
Jean was born in Franklin County, Ala., the youngest of nine children. She received her degrees from the University of North Alabama and taught English at Bradshaw High School for 20 years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Williams.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Cathy Tackett and her husband Tommy, Madison, Ala.; a son, Phil Williams and his wife, Candice, Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Andrew Elliott Williams and his wife, Rachel, and Lee Steele Williams, all of Huntsville, Ala.; great-granddaughter, Emma Ramsey Williams; sister, Mable Carpenter, Tuscumbia, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John McKinney, Hon. George Carpenter, Hon. Hoyt Elliott, Tony Williams, Owen Peters, Jim Elliott and Mark Beumer.
