Former City Resident Dies at Age of 87
Mrs. Stella Baker Airey, 87, 4801 Fillmore Terrace, Philadelphia, a former resident of S. Wyoming St, died at 9 am Sunday at the home of her son, Col Frederick Baker, Terrell, Texas.
Born in Hazleton, April 7, 1888, she was the daughter of John Daniels and Anna Heisner Daniels.
She was a resident of Hazleton for 55 years, living in Philadelphia for the past 32.
The deceased was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, this city, and St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Philadelphia.
Mrs. Airey was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 589 VFW, Hazleton, and the Past President's Club, District 11, VFW.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred J. Baker, in 1918, and her second husband, Oliver E. (Bud) Airey on Feb 22, 1970.
Surviving are a daughter, Anne Perry, Philadelphia; sons Paul John Baker, West Hazleton; Col. Frederick C. Baker, Terrell, Texas; Col Thomas E. Baker, San Francisco, Calif; seven grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday from the Walter E. Beltz Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Hockensmith officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday.
