Elmer H. Polzin, 97, passed away Jan. 31, 2018, at Rennes Health Center-West in Peshtigo, WI where he has been a resident since early April 2017. He was born July 16, 1920, son of the late Charles and Minnie Polzin.

He married the former Edverdina Ahrens on Nov. 3, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grover. She preceded him in death April 29, 2017.

Elmer was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church all his life and was confirmed on May 13, 1934, with Pastor Carl Henning officiating. He attended German School at church in his early years and rural country schools later.
Growing up a farm boy, he farmed until 1967 and then retired from farming to work at Chadwick’s in Coleman. He later retired from there and went to work at Fish Net & Twine in Menominee and Richardson Furniture in Menominee, MI.
Elmer played dart ball for the Lutheran Church League and the original Thursday Night Wild Cat League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, along with trapping. His best of all pastime was time spent with his family, friends and birthday parties with his grand-girls.

Elmer is survived by his three children: Karen (Douglas) Schroeder of Crivitz, WI; Carol Nedland of Mondovi, WI and Barry (Sue) Polzin of Peshtigo, WI; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents and his wife, Edverdina, he was preceded in death by a son, Wayne; his sister, Ruth Schroeder; brothers: Leland and Carl Jr.; and son-in-law, Jon Nedland.

Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 5, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Grover from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Luke Myslik officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Marinette.
