Evaline Smith was born April 4, 1848. Her early life was spent in Cerro Gordo. She was married in 1869 to Elda O. Smith of Cerro Gordo, where they lived until about 40 years ago when they moved to a farm near Bement. After her husband's death five years later, Mrs. Stuart built and moved to the home in Bement, where her death occurred.
Seven children were born to them, three of whom died in infancy. Left are two sons, George of Chicago, Burt of Pontiac, Mich. and a daughter, Mrs. Alma McKinney of Milwaukee. Another daughter, Mrs. Mable Webb, died 12 years ago. Mrs. Stuart, although then 70 years of age, made a home for the four grandchildren, Mrs. Allen Propst of Cerro Gordo, Mrs. Nina Russell of Chicago and Stuart and Florence, at home. Mrs. Stuart was a member of the Methodist church.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. J.W.A. Kinison at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Methodist church. Burial will be in the Cerro Gordo cemetery.
