Janice Georgene (Johnson) Acker, 74, of Mohnton, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 peacefully in her home. Janice is survived by her longtime companion, John.
Born in Reading PA, she was the daughter of the late Veronica Jablonski and Walter S. Johnson. Janice was raised by her adopted mother, the late Mary E. Stein.
She is survived by her son Stephen Acker; daughters Kelly Stoyer, Robin Ojea, Tracey Acker, Lisa Acker, and Debbie Rodgers; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Sisters Veronica Johnson, Shelly Heffner, and Barbara Vaux also survive her. Her son, Richard S. Acker, and a brother, Walter J. Johnson, preceded her in death.
Janice is a graduate of Wilson High School. She worked many years as a cashier and a bartender for businesses such as the Gouglersville Fire Company, the Sunoco Gas Station and Shillington Car Wash. She spent her last years spending time with John watching her favorite racecar driver, Jeff Gordon and her favorite baseball team, the Phillies, more specifically Jayson Werth and Chase Utley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 7 p.m. in Henninger Funeral Home Inc. 229 N. 5th St. Reading, Pa 19601. A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
