He was born March 1, 1932 in Minerva to George and Velma (Pariso) Smith
He had worked for the Minerva Wax Paper in Minerva for 25 years and retired from Sears in Canton where he was a service technician for 30 years
He graduated from Minerva High School in 1950 and the Sears Technical School in Chicago. He is a member of the Minerva First Presbyterian Church, and the Minerva and Louisville Eagles. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and former semi-pro baseball player
He is survived by his wife, Sara (Hubbard) Smith whom he married Jan. 19, 1951, daughter, Kimberly (Richard) Merrick of Minerva, 2 sisters-in-law, Martha Smith and Norma Smith both of Minerva, 4 grandchildren, Kenneth (Natsuko) Merrick of East Rochester, Erin Merrick of Minerva, Jennifer (Keith) Eddy of Jewett and Martin Merrick of Minerva, and 2 great grandchildren, Lisa and Alex. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Duane and Harold Smith.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating.
Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
