Ireta Jo Baird Smith, 74, of Lawton, Kansas, a retired Nursing Home Administrator, passed away at Medicalodge of Columbus, Kansas, following an illness.
She was born in Mineral Township, Cherokee County, to Homer and Goldie Ethel Duncan Baird.
She returned to Cherokee County six months ago, moving from Northwest Arkansas, where she had lived for the previous 10 years.
She worked as a Nursing Home Administrator, retiring in Boise, Idaho in 1992.
She married Ernest Smith on Nov. 20, 1978 at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2005.
She is survived by two sons:
Ray Poole and Benford Poole, both of Joplin, Mo.

Pauline Devore of Shelly, Idaho
Olive Layman of Kellogg, Idaho
