Tommy was in WWII in the Navy. He was on the PT boat with John Kennedy. There were no jobs after the war so he worked for Ken Luce (his brother-in-law) in his woodworking business. Then he worked as a mechanic in a garage and built hot rods. He raced them on the speedway near his father's farm- the speedway and farm are now the MSP airport.
