Robert E. Radtke, 74 of Reed City, died Thursday,, October 22, 1992, at Munson Hospital in Traverse City.
He was born May 13, 1918 in Detroit to William and Anna (Queeding or Quiding) Radtke and attended school in Scottville, graduating from Scottville High School in 1936.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1941-1945, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent. He served in Europe with the 232nd Infantry of the 42nd Rainbow Division.
He lived in Baldwin, before moving to Reed City one and a half years ago.
He had worked as a postal clerk in Baldwin for 12 years and then as a cashier in the Lake-Osceola State Bank before becoming a vice-president in 1967. He retired in 1981.
He was a member of VFW Peacock Post 5315. He enjoyed gardening and sporting events and was an avid Detroit Tiger fan.
He was married October 14, 1943 to Romayne Gleason in Muskoegee, OK. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary and his wife Kerry of Mason, and William of Appleton, WI; one daughter Helen of Reed City; three grandchildren Gary, Amy and Julia Radtke; three step-grandchildren, Nathan, Jennifer and Kade Demoss; four sisters-in-law, Nannette (Mrs. Morton) Peterson of Traverse City, Alice Griberg of Grand Rapids, Sue Gleason of Branch and Florence Radtke of Gross Pointe Woods and one step-brother, Earl Fisher of Pontiac.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Fred, and his step-father Charles Fisher.
