James Orville Hunt passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at his home in Kuna. Thanks to his grandson, JR Hunt, he was able to remain at home. Graveside service was conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Emmett Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Potter Funeral Chapel Emmett.

He was born May 25, 1923, in Dallas, S.D. His family moved to Boise in 1933. He lived and attended school in Boise until the second world war started, when the family moved to Portland, Ore., to work in the ship yards. He decided to join the Navy Seabees. He enlisted in January 1943 and was honorably discharged in November 1945, when he returned to Boise to start a new family, work and stay close to his parents.

He is survived by his long-time companion and love Frances Walker; three sons, Harvey Kay Hunt, Ogden, Utah; James O. Hunt Jr. Palmdale, Calif.; and Steve P. Hunt, Boise; two daughters, Mary E. Borchers, Boise; and C. Linda Baker, Thames, New Zealand; sisters, Norma McCarty, Kuna; Darlene Cotton, Salt Lake City; numerous stepchildren, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his oldest son David Hunt, youngest daughter Sheila Hanley, one sister Marion Pennington and three grandchildren.
