Darin Jay Atkinson, beloved son, father, and eternal companion returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly and Earthly fathers July 12, 2013.
He was born June 28, 1967 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alvin Jay and Rita Neu Atkinson.
Darin loved life and every moment was filled with laughter and joy.
He grew up in West Valley, Utah with wonderful friends and graduated from the University of Utah.
He served in the Naval reserves training as a hospital corpsman and serving during Desert Storm.
He married his sweetheart Angela on May 18, 1990.
Darin's greatest joys were in spending time with his family. His diligence in teaching them to love working hard and playing hard is his legacy.
Darin worked as a Certified Financial Planner for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and served his community in the Rotary club, the DRMC Professional Advisory Council and the Salt Lake Disability Services Center. He loved what he did and all those he worked with.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Darin served in many capacities. He loved to teach and share his love of learning. Most recently he was serving with the young men. His love for the boys and his ability to match their pranking endeared them to him with treasured mutual respect.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Jay; and his brother, Marc; as well as all of his grandparents. What a wonderful reunion they are enjoying together.
He is survived by his wife, Angela; children: Brandon, Mikelle, and Jacob; his mother, Rita (Salt Lake); and sister, April (Salt Lake) who will miss his smiles, laughter, and teasing every moment until we are united again in love, with the assurance that our family is forever.
