Mrs. G. V. McClintic

Mrs. G. V. McClintic, 911 North Fifth street, city librarian and a retired teacher, has been a resident of Sayre 44 years.

A native of Morganfield, Ky, her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. James Wesley Rogers, Oklahoma City, Mrs. McClintic attended grade school in Morganfield then moved to Oklahoma in 1900 returned to Kentucky and later to Oklahoma City in 1907 where she graduated from Central highschool, and received a BS degree from Central State College, Edmond. She has graduate work at OSU, OK, North Texas State Denton, Texas. She was married to Mr. G. V. McClintic December 25, 1921 and they moved to Sayre where he was a dentist until his death in 1940.

Mrs. McClintic taught in the Sayre grade school, junior high, Sayre Junior College. Past President of the PTA, BPW, American Legion Auxiliary, she is a charter member and past president of the Self Culture and Sorosis study club, Classroom Teachers Association member and a Fol___tie club when it was organized. A member of the First Christian church she is past president of CWF and Christian Guild.

Her two children are a son, George III, of Oklahoma City and a daughter, Mrs. Glen Carpenter, Okinawa, six grandchildren, one great grand child.

Her hobby is a love for books, collecting autographed books and her grandchildren.

Mrs. G. V. (Myrtle) McClinic, age 1979, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Sayre, died Thursday, Feb. 18, in the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church in Sayre under the direction of Scroggins and Son Funeral Service.

Former Sayre School teacher dies

Funeral services for Mrs. G. V. (Myrtle) McClintic of Oklahoma City and formerly of Sayre, will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, ar 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church at Sayre. Officiating will be Rev. Marion Nilsson.

Mrs. McClintic had been residing with her son at 9104 N. May in Oklahoma City. She died Tuesday in the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Born June 16, 1895 in Morganfield, Ky., Mrs. McClintic came with her parents to Oklahoma City in 1905 where she graduated from Central High School.

After receiving a degree from Central State College at Edmond she taught in the Oklahoma City school system from 1915 until 1921 when she married Dr. George Vance McClintic Jr., a dentist. They moved to Sayre where he was a practicing dentist until death in 1940.

She began teaching again in 1936 and had graduate work at OSU, Stillwater, O.U. at Norman, North Texas State at Denton, Tex.

She taught in the Sayre grade school, Junior high and Sayre Junior College until retiring in 1956. She was librarian of the Sayre Public until 1968.

Past president of the Sayre PTA, BPW clubs and charter member and past president of the the Self Culture and Sorosis study clubs, she was a Classroom Teacher Association member, member of the Sayre First Christian Church and past president of the CWF and Guild.

He brother-in-law, James V. McClintic, was a congressman from Oklahoma 20 years.

Survivors are 1 son, George V. III, of Oklahoma City; 1 daughter, Mrs. Sue Emma Jane Carpenter of Nurenberg, Germany; 2 brothers, Bob Rogers and Herman Rogers both of Oklahoma City; 1 sister, Mrs. Fred Remmers of Oklahoma City; 7 grandchildren; 4 greatgrandchildren.(sic)

Committal will be in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery under the direction of Scroggins and Son Funeral Service.
