OBITUARY - Mrs. Julia Verdier Carbaugh who had been an invalid for 2 years and in feeble health for four years as a result of a stroke of paralysis, died at her home August 19. She was born in Franklin county, PA Feb. 12, 1832 and at the time of her death was 75 years, 6 months and 1 day. She with the family came to Carroll county in 1876 and moved to the farm at Maple Grove and in 1898 they moved to Lanark where they have lived ever since. She was married November 16, 1848. Seven children were born to them, all living but one son who died in infancy. Those living are John, Wm., Edward and Mrs. Mary Byers of this place, Harvey of New York and Cortney of Norfolk Nebraska. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the residence. The sermon was preached by Rev. David Rowland assisted by Rev. J. Barnard. Her body was interred in the Lanark Cemetery.
