Leibisch "Leo" Rubinstein was born in the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. On his marriage record, his birth place is given as Wladimir Wolynski (jurisdiction under Kaschowki). His daughter Friederike said it was in a region that later became part of Russia. The area seems to have been controlled at different times by Poland,Ukraine and Russia.
Leo married Estera on 8 Jun 1919 in the Synagogue Müllnergasse 21, 1090.
Leo lived in Vienna, Austria with his wife Estera "Erna" and his two daughters, Gertrud and Friederike. His daughters were born in Vienna. Friederike said that she thought that he sold insurance for the Austrian government.
Friederike remembered her father as being gone on long trips related to his job. Also, he was a very kind man. If on his way home he saw a homeless person, he would invite him home for dinner and give him some of his clothes to wear.
He died of complications involving the gall bladder at the age of 47 and was buried in Vienna in the Zentral Friedhof, in the Jewish section. I found his burial information on a Jewish burial website:
