Adella Leona Gartner, 86, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011, at the Kindred Medical Center, Kansas City, MO.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 25, 2011, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Independence, MO. Burial in the Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens-Independence, MO, will also include the interment of her grandson Matthew Marshall.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 24, 2011, from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. at the Royer-Hays Funeral Home, Blue Springs, MO. At 7:15 p.m., the rosary will be recited.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Mary's Food Pantry in care of St. Mary's Catholic Church, 600 North Liberty Street, Independence, MO 64050.

Adella was born December 6, 1924, in Point Marion, PA, to Michael and Mildred (Yaksta) Lochinis. On March 4, 1948, she was married to her husband Howard E. Gartner. Adella loved her faith and loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Michael and Mildred Lochinis; her beloved husband of 40 years Howard E. Gartner; one son: Howard Eugene "Buddy" Gartner; one grandson: Matthew Marshall; and 5 sisters.

Her survivors include four daughters: Carol Marshall and husband Joseph of Lee's Summit, MO, Nancy Green and husband James of Independence, MO, Barbara Huston and husband George of Chicago, IL, and Kathleen Rush of Kansas City, MO; one sister: Evelyn Schultz of Long Island, NY; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
