Alice Dorothy Voorhees of Cadillac died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was 85.

She was born Oct. 14, 1915 in Cadillac to William Ernest and Eda (Bond) Harris. She married Frank Voorhees. He preceded her in death Sept. 1, 1988.

Mrs. Voorhees worked at Cadillac Girl Coat Company for many years and then for Mercy Hospital for eight years before her retirement. She enjoyed being with her family and many, many friends.

Mrs. Voorhees was a member of the Cadillac Wesleyan Church, now the Crossroads Community Church. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her.

Survivors include her children, James (Betty) Voorhees of Cadillac, William (Toni) Voorhees of Cadillac, Michael (Gail) Voorhees of Reed City, Brian (Chris) Voorhees of Traverse City, Bertie (Dick) Black of Tustin, Mary (Wayne) Kleckler of Big Rapids, and Patricia (Robert) Howell of Cadillac; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Eda Toots Rogers of Tampa, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Lois Harris of Gladwin and Florida, and Helen Harris of Cadillac; special aunt, Nora Lembke of Tustin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughters, Beverly, and Connie; infant son, Thomas; sisters, Johanna Slocum, and Esther Munson; brothers, Frederick, Richard, Calvin (John), Thomas, Frank, Wellington Wet, and twin brother, Arthur Harris; brothers-in-law, Wesley A. Slocum, and Richard Rogers; sisters-in-law, Donna Harris, and Mildred Harris; granddaughter, Lynda Black; grandsons, Keith Kleckler, and Brad Lembke; nephews, Richard Rogers Jr., and Jeffery Rogers; and great-nephew, Jimmy Brandon.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac with Pastor Roger Sian and Elder Robert Keeler officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial tributes may be made to the American Lung Association.
