Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Calipatria for Alfredo A. Jimenez Sr., 101, of Holtville, who died Monday in El Centro Regional Medical Center. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday in the church. The Rev. Amador Lopez will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mr. Jimenez was born Nov. 17, 1902, in Numaran, Michoacan, Mexico, and came to the Imperial Valley in 1926, settling in Calipatria.

He married Francisca Martinez in St. Patrick's Catholic Church on July 16, 1939.

Mr. Jimenez worked in agriculture as an irrigator for some years and later worked for the Imperial Irrigation District, from which he retired in 1969 after 23 years of service.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was an avid gardener, family said.

Mr. Jimenez was preceded in death by his grandson Patrick Johnson in 1966; and great-grandchildren Seth Spence in 2000 and Kayla Spence in 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Francisca Jimenez of Holtville; daughters, Marcelina Jimenez and Juanita Tabarez, both of Brawley, and Gavina Johnson of Holtville; sons, Manuel Jimenez of Holtville, Alfredo Jimenez Jr. of Calipatria and Francisco and Jesus Jimenez, both of Indio; brother, Luis Jimenez of Mexico City; 22 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
