Son of Squire Boone Grant and Mary Johnson Drum. Grandson of William Grant and Elizabeth Boone, sister of Daniel Boone, famed Kentucky explorer.

(1850 – ?), Susan Hill Grant (1855 – 1939), Charles Washington Grant (1858 – 1927), and John E. Grant
(1862 – ). Born and raised in Kentucky, resided in Livingston County, Missouri and then came to live in Lawrence, Kansas. By 1910, at the age of 89, he was residing with his daughter, Susan Hill Kelso, and her family.
