Audrey Schulte age 88 of Sibley, IA died Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center in Sibley, IA. Audrey was born July 12, 1924 in Sibley, IA to Harold and Lillian (Bell) Attig. She was raised in Sibley and graduated from Sibley High School. She continued her education at Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX studying Business and English. She met Neil the fall of 1943. He was in the Air Force and stationed at Tech for pre-flight training. He was later transferred to Bakersfield, CA. Audrey and Neil were married in Aunt Gertrude Bell's home in Hollywood, CA August 2, 1944. Neil transferred to Colorado Springs and Audrey worked at Peterson Field for the transportation officer. The couple was transferred to Muskogee, OK, then to Monterey, CA, before Neil was shipped to England on the Queen Mary. During this time Audrey moved back to the farm with her folks, Harold and Lillian Attig. Daughter Sannie Lee was born in Sibley June 8, 1945. They lived in the Sibley area for several years, and then moved to St. Louis where they lived for almost 20 years. Their daughter Sannie passed away in December of 2000 and Neil passed away in November of 1998.
She is survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Neil; daughter, Sannie; and brother, Harold R. Attig.
Funeral service, Tuesday September 18, 2012 at United Methodist Church in Sibley, with Rev. Shannon Pascual officiating. Burial at Holman Township Cemetery in Sibley.
