Murder Victim. He was one of two Victoria Australia police officers (along with Constable Damian Eyre) murdered in the Walsh Street police shootings on October 12, 1988. Their execution-style murders generated the police investigation known as The Tynan-Eyre Task Force, which was the biggest and longest running investigation undertaken by the Victoria Police to that time, spanning 895 days. Victor Peirce, Trevor Pettingill, Anthony Farrell and Peter McEvoy were placed on trial beginning in March of 1991 for the murders, but all were acquitted. Tynan was buried at The Necropolis - Springvale Cemetery on October 17, 1988.
