Mr. Netter had been in apparently good health until the past month. His illness was not serious enough, however, to prevent him from making his annual trip to South Dakota to hunt pheasants, a practice he had enjoyed for many years. He returned last Tuesday.
Mr. Netter was born in Ashton, Iowa, on April 15, 1893; the son of Peter and Minnie (Martin) Netter. D., where he lived until coming to Michigan, settling in Parma for a year before coming to Albion in 1941. August 13, 1941, he was married to Miss Sarah Orpha Shaw. Mrs. Netter died Oct. 19, 1949.
On Oct. 15, 1951, Mr. Netter married Mrs. Mary Hall at Angola, Ind. Mr. Netter was a member of the V.F.W. and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
On Aug. 3, 1917, Mr. Netter enlisted in the U.S. army at Worthington, being discharge as a first sergeant at Camp Dodge, Iowa, May 14, 1919, after having seen service in France.
Surviving besides his widow, Mary, is a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth A. (Beverly) Shields, a grandson, Jack Pulling, and a granddaughter, Miss Barbara Shields, all of Albion; two step daughters, Mrs. Marie Duhs, Mapleton, Ill., and Mrs. Louise Fetcher, Hannah City, Ill., and a step son, Robert Winchell, Indianapolis, Ind., also two sisters, Miss Ida Netter, San Diego; Calif., and Mrs. Helen Snyder, Hunting Park, Calif., three brothers, Harold Netter, Cooperville, Wash., Fred Netter, Big Sur, Calif., nine step-grandchildren and five great step-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the King and Helrigel home for funerals, Wednesday at 2:00, Rev. Vilis Varsbergs officiating. Burial in Riverside cemetery."

From a Findagrave reader: "I am helping a friend with family research and am hoping you can help.
You have William Henry Netter on Find A Grave, his first wife unknown.
In the 1940 Census he is w/ wife Sara(Daisy) & 22 yr old daughter Beverly Maye Smith. She & her mother are who we are trying to find information on.
We do not know a maiden name of Sara and are unable to find marriage date to W H Netter.
You will find Beverly Maye Shields on Find A Grave Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, TX w/ the only information we have.
We are trying to find out if Beverly was adopted by W H Netter or if she is daughter to a Smith that was once husband of Sara.
There is also thought that Beverly may be of Native American descent."
