Willie Thorton (W.T.) Adcock Jr., age 81, of Ridge Road, Roxboro, died Saturday evening at Duke Regional Hospital. He was born in Person County to the late Willie Thorton Adcock Sr. and Bessie Mae Dean Adcock.

He was predeceased by one brother, Edward Dean Adcock.

After earning a business degree at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1955, he graduated from Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. "W.T." served in the Navy during the peace time following the Korean War, earning the rank of LTJG.

Mr. Adcock was retired owner and operator of the Wade Grocery Co where he worked with his parents and brother after military service. He was a member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Harriett Andrews Adcock of the home; his son, Jonathan Skeen Adcock and wife, Cami, of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Caroline Brooke Adcock and Erin Elizabeth Adcock, both of Raleigh.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Long Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Burchwood Cemetery.
