He is believed to be born 04 Feb 1800 in NC, although this exact day is undocumented. He settled in Henry County, GA in the early 1820's.

He married Catharine Crumbley, November 16th 1826, his last child was born in Henry Co. GA. According to family tales, he was missing in action and presumed dead, in GA, during the Creek Indian Wars. This makes his exact death and burial is unknown.

Since his location is unknown, William has a marker only, here with his wife to honor him.

Catharine and his children came to Alabama from Henry County GA, about 1851. And although William may have never set foot in Alabama ... many of the HOUSE surname in Alabama are his descendants.

His name on earlier records was Elias, however his first name William is recorded and verified in the stone marker here! It verifies that William and Elias (OR William Elias) are one-and-the-same!

Also, his names including his nickname are all in bio (one of the earliest ever written) written by his very own grandson, Lou Allen HOUSE. Nickname "Dutch" maybe because of a Deutschland (German) heritage. Personally I feel he is of the German HOUSE family who settle in NC. There has been many errors in his listing of the generations, however, since Lou Allen's info was early, second generational knowledge and NO DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE to the contrary, just a lot of erroneous assumptions. There is no reason to question the validity of the part about his grandfather.

Elias Ancestry:
I feel that Elias House tree on Ancestor.com is somewhat invalid, having the wrong child attached where William Elias SHOULD have been. Much more evidence proves William Elias to be the correct child.

Families tended to name their children after relatives. His father would have been ELIAS House. Many of his children would have appropriately been named after their aunts or uncles, making him a MUCH more perfect fit.

However, since Elias (a logical name for Elias father) had no will, I have not been able to prove without any doubt that connection is valid. Love for anyone else to help make that connection.
