Opal was married to Raymond McConnell on April 20, 1938.
Opal Gayne McConnell, a resident of Terra Bella, died in Porterville Monday, April 5, 2004. She was 82. The service was at the Terra Bella Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Randy Daniel of the Rev. Don Dyke of Banning Church in Banning. The Interment was at the Hillcrest Memorial Park. She was a native of Greenfield, MO., and a resident of Terra Bella for 56 years. She was a member of the Terra Bella Church of the Nazarene, where she was a song leader for many years, Sunday School Superintendent, Board Member, Choir Member, youth leader, and served in other capacities.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond McConnell, in 1998; her daughters, Shirley Londquist, Patricia McConnell; brothers, John, Bill and Wayne Feezell; and sisters, Omie Dill, Maude Gates, May Wright and Cleo Brown.

Survivors include two daughters,Ramona Cone of Fullerton and Victoria Morton of Grand Ledge, Mich; a son, Michael McConnell of San Diego; three sisters, Beulah Wright of Porterville, Hildred Hunt of Ft. Scott, Kan, and Dorothy McConnell of Greenfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

reported that three women died from an auto crash as result of a Head-on collision.

Both Opal, 82 and her daughter Patricia 61, both were pronounced dead at the crash site on Monday afternoon. California Highway Patrol officials said that Tanya Leigh Humphrey, 27, was driving south on South Main Street when her Toyota Avalon crossed over into the northbound lane and smashed into a Toyota Camry driven by Patricia McConnell.
Tanya Humphrey died during surgery at Sierra View Dist. Hospital. All three were wearing seat belts.
