His second middle name, Ignace, does not appear in any available records, nor does a middle initial "I", but both appear in some of the records of his son Wilmer, who is called "Jr."

Alford, Wilmer B. Sr. (Dad)—Died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday [January 22] at his Livonia residence, Age 85. Body at Niland Funeral Home in New Roads after 1:30 p.m. Thursday. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Religious services at 10 a.m. Friday at Cabrini Catholic Church. Burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in New Roads.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Rosa Gremillion Alford; seven sons, Coleman Alford, Frisco; Roman J. Alford, Baton Rouge, and Wallace J., Wilmer B. Jr., Freddy H., Freeland J. and Henry L. Alford of Livonia; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Bizette, Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. Ruby Mathes, Slidell, and Mrs. Verna Langois, Baton Rouge; and 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
