Jane Hill was born 5 Nov 1824 to William Hill I of Gloucestershire, England, and Harriett Mason of Higet Hill, London (possibly Highgate Hill, London).
After the death of her parents, Jane, her sister Ann, and their friend Marianne Baldyke (ship records list "Marion Boldyke") sailed for America on the Ship Rhine (Red Swallowtail Line) late July, 1855. Her elder brother, William Hill II, having traveled to America earlier, would meet them there.
Jane arrived at the Port Of New York - Castle Gardens on 3 Aug 1855. On 28 Mar 1857 she married Isaac Phineas Hart at Trinity Episcopal Church, New Haven, CT. Jane and Isaac were married for over 50 years and had six children, five whom survived into adulthood. Over the years they moved their family a number of times, living in Bristol, CT; Stanley, WI; Sioux City, IA; Coon Rapids, IA; and finally Cottrell, OR.
Jane died in Cottrell, Clackamas, Oregon, USA on 1 Nov 1912.
Her burial was held 4 Nov 1912 at Mt. Scott Park Cemetery (renamed Lincoln Memorial Park) at 2 P.M.
