Son of Pardon and Elmira (Woodbury) Bushnell.

CPL - Co. B, 13th Vermont Infantry. - Enlisted; Aug. 25, 1862. Mustered out; July 21, 1863.

In 1868 he married Mary Ballou of Gardiner, MA.

From the "Boston Herald," 31 March 1923, in part:
Fordis O. Bushnell
Worcester, march 30 -- Fordis O. Bishnell, aged 83, commander of George H. Ward post, G. A. R., in 1906 and 1907, died today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alice Mayhall, 24 McKinley road.... Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Bushnell was born in Waitsfield, VT.
In September 1863, he came to Worcester and became associated with his brother, George H. Bushnell, in manufacturing woolen machinery.
In 1872 he retired because of ill health, later going into the meat and provision business in Gardner.
He was a member of Morning Star Lodge, A. F. A. M., member of the Worcester Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, and Stella Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
He was a member of All Souls Universalist Church. In 1891 he laid the cornerstone of the present church at Norwood and Woodland Streets.
He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Hall, a son, Fordis Oscar Bushnell of Philadelphia, and a grandson, J. Fred Hall of Worcester.
