Willard Lee Goddard, 75, passed away July 20, 2013 in St. George, Utah, after complications following a successful battle with cancer. He was born May 4, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to Willard Faye Goddard and Catherine Margaret Harmon. He married Janetta Loftis on July 14, 1983 in the Oakland California LDS Temple.
Lee was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. Lee served proudly in the Airborne Infantry of the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he spent his career as a union carpenter and worked his way up to become project superintendent, working on major military construction projects. Lee was happiest when serving and helping others, never judging others for their choices. He worked off and on actively with the youth, including the Boy Scouts of America. He was happiest on a lake or river, where he spent many days fishing with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janetta Goddard, of St. George, Utah; Children Nicholas Goddard (Cindy) of Denver, Colo., Cari (Shaun) Austin of Denver, Colo., Cristina Packham (Drew) of Roswell, Georgia, Paul Goddard (Camille) of Cedar City, Utah, Jacque Lyman (Curtis) of St. George, Utah. He was a proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; Brothers Stephen Goddard of Mountain Home, Idaho, Jake White of Los Gatos, Calif., David White of Sonora, Calif., Howard Painter of Oakdale, Calif. , and his four legged companion, Duke. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. at the Winchester Hills Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 5338 N Winchester Dr. South St. George, UT 84770. Friends may visit beginning at 9 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will take place in the Holden City Cemetery in Holden, Utah.
