John C. Garling, sixty-one years of age, a lifelong resident of the county, died Monday morning at his home in Pulaski. He had suffered for some time from a heart condition, but death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born in White Post township on January 22, 1901, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Garling, and was married in 1920 to Irene Smallfelt. He was engaged in farming until retiring because of his health and was a member of the Pulaski Presbyterian church.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Davis of Kissimmee, Fla., four grandchildren; two brothers, Omer Garling of Medaryville and Harry Garling of Hobart; sister, Mrs. Walter Alberding of Winamac.
Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon in the Pulaski Presbyterian church, conducted by the Rev. Harry Campbell. Burial was in the Winamac cemetery. The body was removed from the funeral home to the church to lie in state prior to the service.
