Mrs. Minnie Bates, 60, wife of Luther Bates of Fayetteville, died at her home at 9:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon as a result of a broken hip sustained about 11 weeks ago. Funeral services were held at the Lincoln Church a 11 o'clock Tuesday morning with Rev. Alvie Stevenson and Rev. Howard McGehee officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Joe Beshears of Huntsville, Alabama, Mrs. George F. Davis of Sheffield, Alabama, and Mrs. J. B. Ortner of Tullahoma, Tennessee; four sons, Walter O. Tucker, Gordon Towry, John Bates and Luther Bates, Jr., all of Lincoln County; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Towry, Mrs. Richard Harris, and Mrs. Larry Burrows, all of Lincoln County; one brother, Frank Towry of Lincoln County; 18 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren.
