OBITURY
John R. "Sparky" Adams, 75, of Beaumont passed away Saturday, April 27, 2002 in Beaumont.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday at South Park Baptist Church in Beaumont. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. today at Pattison Cemetery in Emhouse.

Mr. Adams was born Feb. 2, 1927 in Colorado City, Texas, and was raised at the IOOF Home in Corsicana. After graduating from Corsicana High School in 1944, he attended Navarro Junior College and graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1950. He married Marie Ray, formerly of Emhouse, on Dec. 21, 1946. He was a coach and athletic director for 36 years.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Ray Adams of Beaumont; son, Richard R. Adams of Marble Falls; daughter, Marsha Kay Adams of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Jean Magness of Corsicana; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
