The former Lucille Broege was born in Wayne Township, Lafayette County, Aug. 13, 1922, the daughter of Carl and Bertha Rackow Broege. She attended the Crosby rural school.
She married Earl Vickers Oct. 11, 1941, in the East Wiota Church parsonage. They farmed in the South Wayne, Monroe and Monticello areas until 1966 when they moved to Monticello. There they purchased Duff's Tavern, later called Earl's Tap, which they operated for a few years. The past 13 years she had worked at Advance Transformer. Monroe. She attended Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Donna) Stoll, Belleville; Sandra Vickers,
Monroe; and Mrs. Calvin (Bonnie) Soddy, Browntown; four sons, Hubert, Brodhead, Robert, Monroe; Wesley, Evansville, and James, Monticello; a brother, Clarence Broege, Monroe; four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Boeck, Belleville; Mrs. Walter (Helen) Grossen, Browntown; Mrs. Harry (Wilma) Vickers, South Wayne, and Mrs. Victor (Marietta) Hall, Bismark, N.D. and twelve grandchildren.
Her husband died in January of 1976. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Monday, in Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, the Rev. Charles G. Workman, pastor and the Rev. Paul Scheele of Zwingli United Church of Christ, Mt. Vernon officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Pallbearers were Jerald Berge, Fredrick Boeck, Robert Briggs, Walter Grossem Jr., Roger Mauer, Dan Richmiond, Leo Sarbacker and Roger Vickers.
