The son of Thomas Richards of Plymouth, James Richards married Sarah Gibbons, daughter of William & Ursula Gibbons. She also married Humphrey Davie & Col. Jonathan Tyng. He was an original member of the First Church of Hartford, but separated to the Second Church. Their daughter, Jerusha Richards married Governor & Rev. Gurdon Saltonstall. (Families of Early Hartford, Connecticut, p. 476)
