She was born and raised in New Orleans, later moving to Chalmette, and finally relocating to Pearl River. Thelma was preceded in death by her father. Henry John Koenig, her mother Esther Liemann Koenig, and her sister Olga Rose Koenig Hammond. She was a loving mother to her daughter Anna Marie Ciulla Meyers and her husband Ricky G. Meyers, and her son Joseph Henry Ciulla and his wife Paula Labry Ciulla. Beloved grandmother of Jeffrey Evan Meyers, Lindsay Amber Meyers, Leslie Michelle Ciulla, and Victoria Renee' Hopper. Great grandmother of Caden Gregory Meyers and eagerly awaiting the birth of her second great grandchild on October 4th. In addition, Thelma was like a grandmother to Caitlin Mary Waldo and Cassandra Claude Wust. Also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Thelma was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest gift in her life was truly her family. Certainly a woman of tremendous strength, she was a kind and caring person and a friend to many. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all those who were blessed to be touched by her generosity, sweet nature, and unconditional love. The family would like to thank Slidell Memorial Hospital, Gifted Nurses, and St. Joseph Hospice for the loving care they provided during her time of need. Relatives and friends of the family, also friends of AARP Chapter 3851 are invited to attend a visitation to be held at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Blvd. in New Orleans on Monday, September 24th from 10:30a.m. until 1:00p.m., followed by a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00p.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
