Mrs Florence A Nichols, 70, of Spartansburg, RD 3, died Monday, July 22, 1985, at Corry Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct 21, 1914, in Spartansburg, where she attended school. She married Robert Nichols on May 20, 1930. Her greatest interests were her church and family, and she was an avid gardener. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Corry. In addition to her parents, Andrew and Myrtle Starcher Newton, she was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Nichols, and a grandson, Nathan Nichols. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Lee Nichols of Cincinnati and Gilbert Nichols of Goshen, Ind; two daughters, Mrs Roger (Joyce) Coon of Nairobi, Kenya, and Mrs John (Ruth) Shenk of Lebanon, Pa; a brother, George Newton of Erie; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one nephew. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home in Spartansburg...and attend the funeral service there, Thursday at 2 pm, with Rev Howard Loncore, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Corry, officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Spartansburg.
