Dori was born in New York. She attended the Art Students League in New York City and Regis University (formerly Loretto Heights College) in Denver, Colorado.
She had worked as a runway model and catalogue model in New York City. Dori had been a research assistant at the New York Public Library in New York City and later was a library assistant at Hunterdon County Library in Flemington, New Jersey.
Dori had a lifelong love of dance and as a child she tap danced for many radio programs attracting the attention of a Broadway talent scout. She loved attending ballets, reading, going to the beach and cats, especially her beloved Gemma and Rudy.
Mrs. Johnstone is survived by her daughter: Dr. Diana Johnstone Graves; her son: Donald D. Johnstone, Jr.; her stepson: Stuart D. Johnstone; her granddaughters: Becki Kostelac and Ali Graves; two great-grandchildren; a nephew: Douglas R. Bell and a niece: Susan D'Agostino. Also surviving is Dori's brother: Lawrence Brusack.
Relatives and friends are invited to Dori's funeral service, 10 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown. Interment will follow in Upper Tinicum Cemetery, Upper Black Eddy.
