Betty Jean Cole, age 84, of Battle Creek and formerly of Marshall died Tuesday morning July 16, 2013 at the Battle Creek Manor.Mrs. Cole was born on April 16, 1929 in Allen, Kentucky to Andy A. and Anna Mae (Wright) Goodman. She has been a lifelong resident of this area.She was preceded in death by husbands, Clifford March and Kenneth Cole.Betty was a farmer's wife and always did her share of the farm chores. She was a devoted mother and was a wonderful cook. She was lovingly called Grandma March. A favorite pastime of hers was going to garage sales with her sister, Virginia Shepherd. She also enjoyed going grocery shopping.She is survived by daughters, Joyce Raser and Bernice Begley; sons, Arnold, Jimmy, Harold and Charles March; numerous grandchildren; a brother, Clifford "Buddy" Goodman; and sisters, Billie Rae Fox, Alta McNally, Annette Schroll, Faye Bocanegra, Sarah Murphy and Rosa Lee Goodman. She was preceded in death by a son, Don March, while in military serving in Vietnam; and sisters, Mary Helen Smith and Virginia Shepherd.The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, Marshall.
