"Carlyle T. High, 55, of Fox Tail Lane, Brookfield, died at her home Tuesday (Sept. 29, 1998). She was the wife of James R. High. She was born in Geneva, NY, Aug. 11, 1943, daughter of Patricia Nixon Arms of Turin, NY and Robert D. Taylor of Rochester, NY and was a graduate of the Clarke School for the Deaf, Northampton, MA, Geneva High School, Class of 1966, The Rochester Institute of Technology and was the first trial student in the Program for the deaf student. She participated in the development of programs for the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. She was a member of Newbury Congregational Church of Brookfield and was active in many community organizations including the Brookfield Rotary Club and her was offered as a Family to many. She volunteered her time for sign language interpretation and as a Spokeswoman for Handicapped Awareness Week in the local schools. For many years she was a volunteer at Carmel Hospital, Geneva, NY. She, with her husband owned and operated the Print Shack in Brookfield since 1986 and was active until her illness. Besides her husband and her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Katherine T. High of Manchester, and Julia M. High attending school in Binghamton, NY; two brothers, Robert Taylor of Rochester, NY and Fredrick Taylor of Carmel, CA; three sisters, Patricia Dodge of Suffern, NY, Andrea Arms of Aspen, CO and Hilda Parrot of Boston, MA and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be conducted at the Congregational Church of Brookfield Route 25, Whisconier Rd., Brookfield, Saturday, 2 p.m. with the Rev. Carl F. Mesnig, of Newbury Congregational Church officiating. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Homes, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield, Friday 6-9. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Clarke School for the Deaf, Northampton, MA 01060"
