William Abbenhaus, one of the early settlers of Knox County, passed away at the home of his son, Frank, near Bloomfield, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Death was brought on by old age and complications.

He was born in Germany and was 84, years, 3 months and 5 days old.

Mr. Abbenhaus has been a resident of Knox County for sixty years. He endured many hardships as a sturdy pioneer.

He came from Germany to Baltimore, Md., where he worked for a number of years cutting timber to help pay for his voyage over here.

Mr. Abbenhaus, then, went to Wisconsin, later journeying to Nebraska.

He leaves to mourn two daughter, Mrs. Frank Cook and Mrs. James Wilson of this vicinity and three sons, Frank and John of Bloomfield and George of Wambelee, S.D.

One son was claimed by death several years ago. His wife also preceded him in death about 45 years ago.

Funeral services were held in Creighton, Wednesday morning from St. Ludger Church, Rev. Father Windolph, celebrating the requiem mass. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
